
Meissen Teapot and Cover, Circa 1735.
A very rare Meissen powdered pink ground kakiemon Teapot and Cover, of lobed quatrefoil shape, one side painted with a bird beside blue rockwork and flowering oriental plants, the other with a bird perched on a flowering prunus branch, within quatrefoil ogival panels, the purple ground reserved with birds, butterflies and flowers, the scrolled handle and spout with kakiemon sprigs, the domed cover with similar decoration.
Marks: blue crossed swords mark and dreher’s mark of three circles for Seidel.
