A British, Leeds Pearlware Model of a Horse, standing in a strong naturally braced position on top of a base embellished with a band of green vine, the anatomical details of the body modelled to great dramatic effect, his head lifted with an alert expression, looking to one side with the ears pointed forwards, wearing yellow bridle applied with blue rosettes.

For a discussion on this type of horse figure, see Pat Halfpenny, English Earthenware Figures: 1740-1840 (1991), pp. 126. She described them as "amongst most striking figures ever made". An early example signed ‘LP’ for Leeds Pottery with similar vine band but in puce around the base is in Colonial Williamsburg, VA (1984-218).
