A Meissen Melon shaped Teapot and cover after the Chantilly, of botanical oval shape, one end of the fruit becoming the spout and the other curled up forming the handle, painted on either side with sprays of japonica and speedwell ‘holschnit blumen’ and ‘ombrierte’ insects and a swaggering gentleman in a plumed hat beneath the spout, the frilled cover with gourd-like green finial, further shadowed insects and a brown line rim.
Incised 33 to the underside of the teapot.
