Meissen Coffee Pot and Cover, Circa: 1740-45

A very rare Meissen Coffee Pot and Cover, of baluster form with scrolled ‘Tau’ rococo handle and spout, delicately moulded with basketweave border, gloriously painted in full blazing colours with a huge brightly coloured butterfly on one side and a very exotic large Grasshopper in flight on the other, an Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar under the lower handle terminal and further scattered insects, the cover with blue open rose finial, the whole enriched with gold highlights.
