A Fine and Rare Pair of Meissen Butter Boxes and Covers, modelled by J.J Kaendler, the highly naturalistic forms with their wings forming the covers and a duckling resting on their backs forms the finials, both resting on grassy mounds. The male’s plumage is painted in speckled hues of tawney brown and purple along his head and neck, while the female is painted in brown and grey.
Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords to both. The female with incised marks and puce painted 10.
