First Period Dr Wall Worcester Monumental Vase and Cover, Circa 1770
A superb and very rare Worcester Vase of inverted baluster form, with domed lid surmounted by an open flower finial, painted on one side with a lion, lioness and cub in a rocky landscape with a waterfall, and on the reverse with a similar landscape, by Jefferyes Hamett O’Neale, reserved on a gros bleu ground finely gilt.
Similar vases are illustrated in Jefferyes Hamett O’Neale by W.H. Tapp, Chapter Three, where they are discussed.
