A very rare and early ‘Scratch Mark’ Bow Teapot and Cover, of globular shape with loop handle, beautifully decorated with fruiting vines, the leaves green with black detailing and the fruit manganese purple with the grapes circled in iron red, all issuing from branches and tendrils gilt with highlights.

The combination of the colours specifically the aubergine tone of the fruit and the brown and early gilding type are all features of the earliest buff coloured body at the Bow Porcelain Manufactory, the scratch X mark confirms the early date of manufacture.
