Further images
Chelsea Scent Bottle modelled as a Pug, the dog seated on its haunches, with gilt metal mounts to its neck, on a mound base, painted with flower sprays on both sides and flowers to the underside of the scent bottle.
See 'Courtly Companions - Pug and Other Dogs in Porcelain and Faience' by Gun-Dagmar Helke and Hela Schandelmaire. See page 53, image/figure 52, where it is mentioned:
'a broad range of scent bottles were available for ladies ... either formed as a lady with a pug or a sitting pug, most of these have detachable heads, with metal mounts that secured them to the human figure or pug bodies by means of small chains (figs. 51, 52) ... The semi-circular plinth on which this pug is sitting could also be used as an eye-wash basin.'
