A rare Meissen Cream Jug & Cover, of slender baluster form, crisply moulded in low releif with an ozier border, the scroll moulded spout and tau shaped rococo handle composed of further scrolls and acanthus leaves, gilt with embellishments, the body painted on one side with several plums and a pair of damsons, the other side with small melons and their flowers and tendrils, each side further decorated with brightly coloured butterlies and insects. The cover painted with fungi and insects applied with a flower finial.
Marks: Cross swords mark in underglaze blue and incised former's mark 'N' inside the footrim
