A Very Large and Fine Meissen Foliate Dish Decorated with Ducks and Insects with a foliate gilt rim painted with scattered insects over an Altozier relief moulded basketwork pattern. The centre is painted with a landscape scene of two ducks among reeds, one standing upright, the other nestled on the ground next to a nearby body of water.
Further Details: The Altozier or ‘old ozier’ pattern is first recorded at Meissen in Johann Friedrich Eberlein’s (1695-1749) 1736 taxa.
