Exhibitions
Gregor K. Stasch: Made in FD. Spitzentechnologie aus der Fuldaer Fayencemanufaktur (1741-1759), Museum Vonderau Fulda 2015. Exhibition catalogue, no. 154. This incredibly beautiful and successful model is found at Strasbourg and also Schrezheim but Ducret attributes this particular example to Fulda in his correspondence with Ernst Kramer particularly in view of the prominent noble provenance of the von der Tann family, administrative rulers and Barons of the Fulda region. See: a similar example in the Pflueger Collection, New York (Morley Fletcher II 1993, p. 154); and the example in the Frankfurt Museum exhibition cat. Frankfurt 1963, p. 19. The Fulda faience manufactory archives were largely destroyed in the 19th century due to political upheaval, with the result that only a very few factory account books have survived. The volume for 1750 has survived, which mentions the Turtle form: "1 Schildkrot" for a "fremden Mann aus dem Hannoverschen" (a gentleman from Hanover) and "2 Schildkroten" for a Hofrat von Münster of Fulda. In surviving correspondence between Peter Ducret and Ernst Kramer, there is mention for Geheimrat von und zu der Tann, Baron von der Tann, the original owner of this Model, "grossen extra feinen Theetisches" (a large, exceptionally fine tea service for Baron von der Tann.
