An extremely rare Italian Capodimonte Porcelain Box and Cover of Ogival or Acorn Form, beautifully painted with sprays and sprigs of colourful European flowers, including roses and Anemones both the flattened cover and the base with pointed finial knops, with gilded metal mounts.
The shape and form of the Box is that of an Acorn which symbolizes both strength and potential, being the seed of the mighty Oak. The box may be a small snuff box for a lady or may be a patch box. Either way it is a significant piece of high status used in the Boudoir at the Dressing Table of an Aristocrat Courtier.
