A Fine First Period Dr Wall Worcester Earl Manvers Pattern Dessert Plate, of circular scalloped shape, beautifully decorated with spirralling trailing festoons of berried hops and purple rococo scrolls pendant from a gold scrolled border enclosing panels of hops and puce diaper, surrounding a central spray of plums.

The original service reputed to have been made for Charles Meadows, who after succeeding to his Uncle, 2nd Duke of Kingston, in 1796 he took on the name of Pierrepont and was raised to the peerage as Earl Manvers in 1806. Porcelain of this pattern is made circa 1770-80, this piece being an earlier example in paste and appearance of the enamels.
