A very fine First Period Dr. Wall Worcester ‘Mobbing Birds’ vase, of baluster shape with turned foot and neck, beautifully painted in the style of James Rogers, in a very vibrant palette, with a peacock perched in a tree, to one side a brown thrush shrieks, whilst all around geese and exotic birds fly together with insects, butterflies and small flocks of birds.

See John Sandon, ‘Dictionary of Worcester Vol. 1’ for a similar example. The gallery exhibited a smaller example by the same hand and from the Tuke collection in our last years Exhibition ‘Splendour in the Grass’. The pattern is seen on red anchor marked Chelsea and a very fine example can be seen in the catalogue for the exhibition ‘Flowers and Fables, a survey of Chelsea Porcelain 1745-69′, by Margaret Legge, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia. The decoration is very much in the Meissen style and is probably after a printed source.
