A First Period Dr Wall Worcester Teapot and Stand, the teapot of globular shape with loop handle painted with ‘fancy birds’ and insects in panels edged in rococo gilt scrolls reserved on ‘wet’ blue ground. The front and back features panels painted with strutting birds against fruit bearing trees. The cover is ornamented with gilt decoration along the rim and surface with butterflies vividly painted in gilt decorated panels. The flower finial is painted in yellow and tinged puce along the petals.
The hexagonal stand withfoliate edge is gilt decorated along the rim and has a central panel with gilt decorated lambrequin border reserved on ‘wet’ blue ground. A ‘fancy bird’ stands against a fruit bearing tree. Flocks of birds fly overhead in the distance.
