A very rare First Period Dr Wall Worcester Trumpet Shaped Vase, with everted rim and spreading foot, and a swelling knop in the centre, painted in underglaze blue on both sides with a chinese lady and a child at conversation, surrounded buy a rococo scrollwork border containing panels of diaper.
The trumpet shaped vase taken in inspiration from the Chinese original form. The shape is derived from the bronze shape ‘tsun’ an ancient form recurring in transitional Ming porcelain of the late seventeenth centuryand also at Meissen.
